PRF insurance is designed to provide insurance coverage on your perennial pasture, rangeland or forage acres. Dry conditions can affect more than your crops. If you have decreased forage production to use for grazing or to harvest for hay, you could end up paying more for feeding, destocking, or depopulating your livestock.
- You are NOT required to insure all your acres, but you cannot exceed the total number of grazing or haying acres you operate.
- PRF is based on precipitation using the Rainfall Index for a 17 mile by 17-mile grid for a given 2-month interval.
- A minimum of two and maximum of six index intervals must be selected.
- Coverage levels are available for 90, 85, 80, 75 & 70 percent and you can select between 60% and 150% of the County Based Value.
- The government does subsidize between 51% and 59% of your premium depending on your level elected.
